Canlaon is a landlocked component city in the coastal province of Negros Oriental.
The city has a land area of 170.93 square kilometers or 66.00 square miles which constitutes 3.15% of Negros Oriental’s total area. Its population as determined by the 2020 Census was 58,822. This represented 4.10% of the total population of Negros Oriental province, or 0.73% of the overall population of the Central Visayas region. Based on these figures, the population density is computed at 344 inhabitants per square kilometer or 891 inhabitants per square mile.
